Mario's Current 5-Day Training Split

Day 1

Legs

Building strong leg muscles-specifically your glutes, quadriceps, hamstrings, and calves-is essential for everyday health, performance, and longevity.

Day2

Chest

Building a strong chest primarily for aesthetics, functional strength, and confidence. A well-developed pectoral area helps fill out clothing.

day 3

Back

Building a strong back to prevent injuries and improve daily mobility. Back muscles stabilize the spine, support upright posture, and make everyday tasks—like lifting, carrying, and bending—easier and safer to perform without hesitation.

day 4

Shoulders

Building bigger shoulders primarily to build an aesthetic, inverted-triangle physique. Broad shoulders visually balance the body by making the waist appear narrower.

Day 5

Arms

Building bigger arms for a combination of aesthetic, functional, and psychological reasons. Because arms are highly visible, they act as a quick "signal muscle" communicating physical capability, strength, and discipline.

Mario's
Approach to food

I subscribe to the philosophy that food should primarily serve a function rather than just satisfy a craving. While flavor matters, I view nutrition as the core fuel for your body’s daily performance instead of a hobby or form of entertainment.

Training hard is only one piece of the puzzle. Beyond your genetic makeup, your results are heavily dictated by what and how much you consume. Nutrition is the true catalyst for your physical development.

My nutritional philosophy mirrors my training: I prioritize the fundamentals and maintain unwavering consistency. I am not perfect, and I certainly enjoy the occasional fast-food meal, but my baseline is immovable. By sticking to a structured daily menu, I have reclaimed the mental energy and time usually lost to decision fatigue.

Think about how much effort is wasted on debating, preparing, and seeking out meals every single day. By streamlining your nutrition, you gain back the most valuable resource you have - time.

DIETARY
GUIDELINES

Energy Balance

Calories

The foundation of weight management. For busy professionals, focus on a consistent daily intake that matches your energy expenditure. Tracking ensures you are fueled for performance, not just survival.

Muscle Repair

Protein

Aim for 1 gram per pound of body weight. It is the primary building block for recovery and muscle growth. Replenish daily to support your immune system and keep you satiated throughout a long workday.

Performance

Creatine

3 to 5 grams daily. This is the most researched supplement for increasing muscle power and even supporting cognitive function. It draws water into muscle cells, triggering growth signals and improving hydration.

Mario's Thoughts on performance enhancing drugs

I’ve never taken performance‑enhancing drugs or any type of steroid. However, most of the fitness advice I absorbed as a teenager and young adult came from legendary strength figures who openly admitted to using steroids.

They also strongly discouraged people like me from using anabolic steroids if we weren’t planning to compete professionally. I had no plans to compete, so I took that advice and chose to remain a lifetime natural.

I’m not anti-steroid and I don’t judge those who choose to use them. In some ways, I respect the discipline it takes—because for steroids to be effective, your training, nutrition, and recovery have to be even more dialed in. Without that, they don’t do much.

Have I been tempted to use steroids? Absolutely. Steroids don’t magically make you huge; they allow you to recover much faster. For a gym rat like me, who would happily lift weights twice a day, that’s tempting. But as a natural athlete, recovery had to stay a top priority.

Later in life, when I’m in my 50s or 60s, I may explore TRT (testosterone replacement therapy). For now, I’m very happy with the choices I’ve made about what I put into my body and I plan to continue on this natural path.
